This is the kind of story that people in the wine business love to tell. Three bright, young men from Mallorca decide that the indigenous vines of their famed island are capable of producing far better wine that has been turned out in the past. One is a skilled enologist, one an eloquent salesman and one owns an ancient stone farmhouse. They contract with 135 tiny local vineyards to acquire rights to vines of native grapes that are 50 to 85 years old. These stressed vines are dry-farmed and are not fertilized. The old farmhouse was turned into a winery and they began to hand-produce a trickle of unique and elegant wine. Very soon, they are famous and have more eager customers than bottles of wine.

After some reckless stints in the world of publishing and film, it was eventually self-determined that the safest place for Chris Campbell to do his work was behind bars. During his "incarceration" behind the various worn surfaces of mahogany, pine and marble, Chris found his calling as a purveyor of drinks in the city of Manhattan. Wine became his medium of choice after much exploration. His love for the interaction with people,food, and wine and the subsequent friendships he forged with winemakers he met over the years left Chris with the realization that importing could be the way to build a business of his own and still stay connected to the world of food and wine beyond his well-worn path behind the bar. As a Spanish-speaking, white, Irish-Catholic kid, born in New York,the passion for the wines of Spain threw many for a loop, but Chris felt this was the case in point for his mission. Good wine at a good price with a sense of place is a unifying force. So, into the deep end of the wine pool he went, as an importer of fine wines from Spain, the venture to be known from that point forward as C & P Wines. Now, as critics and bigger importers begin to take notice, along with the enlightened distributors, shops, restaurants and retailers around the country who buy and sell C&P Wines, Chris is most excited by the fact that interested consumers looking for a little terroir at a good price can get a little more of what they need via his efforts and selections in the vineyards of Spain.
